Parenting Children

This Parenting Children course is based on the principals of emotional and social intelligence as well as emotion coaching, a research based tool developed by Dr. John Gottman. Studies show that helping children to deal positively with negative emotions can result in improved behaviours, enhanced school performance, greater self-confidence and healthier social relationships.

It is through your relationship with your child that you can teach them the skills needed for this, which can be easy when things are going well, however it’s when you find yourself faced with the everyday struggles of getting them to cooperate or follow the rules that you can run into trouble.
In this programme parents will learn:

  • How to keep calm when they feel frustrated and upset
  • The best ways to respond when your child is sad, scared or angry
  • Practical ideas for handling everyday challenges & routines such as bedtimes, homework, chores, sibling fighting
  • Ideas on reducing household stress & increasing positive times spent together
  • How to set clear and consistent limits
  • To help your child problem-solve about issues upsetting them such as schoolwork, friendships, bullying etc….
