Girls Today Series
These are challenging times for girls. They are coming of age in a more media-saturated and sexualised culture facing incredible pressures to be perfect and beautiful. For girls to successfully navigate these years it’s important that their self-esteem & friendships remains intact.
The following workshops can be taken together or as stand alone sessions. Each lasts approx. 90 minutes.
Girl’s Today Programme
The aim of this programme is to engage girls in discussion about issues common amongst teenage girls and to provide them with the skills they need to make informed choices in their lives from a place of self –respect, personal power and confidence. The programme is aimed at 13-15 year old girls.
- Aspects of the programme include:
- Self-image - To be defined by herself and not by the media & culture
- Claiming her strengths and positive inner qualities
- Body image & appearance
- Dynamics of girls friendships
- Assertive communication tools and healthy conflict resolution techniques to use when dealing with personal relationships and bullying
- Managing difficult feelings such as anger, sadness & hurt
- Stress Management
- Dream big – create a vision of the future she wants
The following workshops can be taken together or as stand alone sessions. Each lasts approx. 90mins and costs €80
Being yourself can be very hard for girls today as they are up against unrealistic expectations and pressures to look, act and be a certain way. In this workshop girls explore the expectations and pressures of Girl World and develop strategies for challenging these expectations, setting their own rules and listening to their own inner voice so that they are living up to their own expectations and not others
Friends, Frenemies & Fights
The aim of this workshop is to provide girls with an understanding of peer aggression; the hurtful behaviours girls use in their relationships and the roles that are played out. It encourages girls to examine how these behaviours impact and affect their lives as well as developing assertive communication tools and healthy conflict resolution techniques to use when dealing with personal relationships and bullying
